Authenticity is a gamble

Authenticity isn't a cheat code. It's completely possible to be authentic as a brand or person and have the world not like you.

This is why I'm not so sure why "authenticity" is touted as the simple formula for success. It doesn't really make sense. I mean, just think about the authenticity in your personal life.

Do you like everyone you've ever met? NOPE.

But what if they're authentic? Well, their authenticity might even be THE REASON you dislike them.

Okay, so what if they're being inauthentic, they're faking it? Well, we can smell that shit a mile away. And we dislike that too.

Holding up "authenticity" as the formula to success assumes everyone likes everyone and all things and all brands.

Just, NO. That's not how the world works.

100% guarantee that someone won't like the authentic version of your brand. And, there's even a chance you're a shitty brand and NO ONE likes you.

I'm not saying fake it. Never do that.

But there's a balance between being authentic and what the world will accept.

Authenticity is not the formula for success. At best it's a gamble. And sometimes you roll snake eyes.
